Lisely GarciaJosiah Quincy Upper School to MCPHS

Sely, a first-year student at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (MCPHS), has always been passionate about the medical world. While at Josiah Quincy Upper School, she joined a Harvard Medical program that exposed her to doctors in different specialties—an experience that fueled her goal of attending MCPHS.

Throughout her college application process, Sely worked closely with her Boston HERC Passport Coach Dani. Together, they spent hours refining essays, completing supplemental materials, and navigating financial aid. Her dedication paid off—after multiple appeals and calls, she received an affordable financial aid package and secured on-campus housing–something that most students do not achieve.

Now thriving in her first semester, Sely thanks her Alumni Success Coach, George, for helping her figure out a schedule to manage her time effectively as a new college student. “I have different time slots for when to study, do homework, and work—that’s thanks to George, who sat with me and helped me make my schedule,” she shares.

Sely says: “One thing I learned about myself is that although I have a lot on my plate, I can still manage it.” We are so proud of Sely and can’t wait to see her continue to grow and shine.
