Passport FAQ
  1. How much does it cost to participate in Passport?
    Applying for Passport is free. You only pay a one time non-refundable $75 deposit to secure your seat in the program upon acceptance.
     
  2. Do I need to be of a particular faith to participate in Passport?
    No. Passport welcomes and encourages participants of all faiths.
     
  3. Does HERC provided one-on-one college counseling to individuals and families? Yes, by appointment only with preference given to HERC program participants. Call 617.442.5608.
     
  4. What does first-generation college bound mean?
    This means you are the first person in your family that will attend college in the United States (US).
     
  5. Is Passport a bilingual program?
    No, all classes and workshops are in English. Participants are expected to have strong working knowledge of the English language.
     
  6. What if I don't have a 2.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale?
    We encourage you to apply and will work with you to develop a academic plan to improve your GPA.

  7. What if I am currently working or plan to work during the school year?
    Excellent! Passport strongly encourages participants to be involved in an experiential learning experiece such as a job, paid-internship, or volunteer experience.

  8. What if my parents did not attend college?
    We would be honored to work with you and your parents. Parents/Gaurdians are required to partipate and learn with the Passport program beginning with the application and interview process.

  9. What languages are represented by your staff?
    Spanish, Haitian-Creole, and French. We will find translation services when necessary.
