Mentors change the world!
Many of us can trace our achievements back to the encouragement of a loving and inspiring adult who took an interest in our goals. At the Boston HERC, we believe mentoring is a vital ingredient to ensuring access and success in higher education. Navigating the terrain of college acceptance alone can be daunting for students who are the first in their families to go to college. Without a compassionate and committed mentor, many urban students who are accepted won't finish. And the job market today is more competitive than ever. Please join our community of volunteer mentors who are changing the world.
"...I know people are busy...People think, well, I'd like to mentor but I'm not sure I can make the commitment...It doesn't take much...A couple of hours a week shooting hoops, helping with homework, talking about what's going on in their lives can make a big, lasting impact in the life of a young person."
-President Obama, Jan. 20, 2010
